Mom: “Elana, what was your favorite moment today?”
Elana: “When we decorated the  cookies and we could eat them before dinner”

Dinner talk:

Dad: Mom made a really good dinner tonight!
Mom: I put lots of love it in
Elana: What is that, what does it taste like?
Dad: It means she put her heart in it:
Elana: Her heart? Do you mean her real heart? From her body?

Talking about family relationship during dinner:

Mom: “Who is granp-papa’s wife?”
Elana: “Grand-maman!”
Papa: “Who is Grandpa’s wife?”
Elana: “My English Grandma!”
Mom: “Who is Dad’s wife?”
Elana:” Hum, grandpa and grandma?”
Dad: “nope”
Elana: “Mom?”
Mom: “Yes! Who is Guillaume’s wife?”
Elana: Helena
then suddenly sad and with tears in her eyes: “But where is my wife???”

Sitting down at breakfast…

Elana: “What kind of egg is this?”
Papa: “It’s an over-easy egg, or a fried egg”
Elana: “But today is Saturday not Friday!”

talking about middle names…

Elana: “Dad what’s your middle name?”
Papa: “Robert”
Elana: “Argh, I don’t like your middle name, it’s a pirate name”

I like to be funny and silly, but not goofy

While talking about Papa’s upcoming birthday…
Elana: “how old will I be in 10 years?
Papa: “You will be 14 yrs old”
Elana laughing: “Wow,  that’s so old, I will be a giant!”

mid step, while going down the stairs to go to daycare

“Mom, I am a little bigger than yesterday, you know?”

Mom “Elana, can you please put your toys away?”

Elana, hiding behind a towel, “I am not here right now, please leave me a message! beep”

While talking to Elana about listening to what his mom tells him and talking to on the phone a lot, our Toronto host said: “I talk to my mom almost everyday!”

To which Elana replied: “I talk to my mom almost every day too!”
